The Lamp

I painted this while I was studying the cubists. The idea is to show a fragmented image made of a number of different views of the object. Most of the images that come to our brains as we look around are made up of multiple views as we move past or around things. The idea of what something 'looks like' is made up of thousands of viewing angles. The painting is an attempt to get at that reality ... something beyond the predicatable single viewpoint.
